The Gods Themselves   by Isaac Asimov

Read: 1970-01-01 Reviewed: 2004-03-24

This is a book about a rather unique population: there are three sexes who melt into one another for procreation (and melt into solid walls for masturbation), and they are overlooked by a superior race of gods (yes, its another of those plotlines where a population escapes from a closed universe imposed on it by a `superior' race).

It turns out that when they reach a certain level of maturity, three of them merge to become one of the gods. Its imaginative, and told with a good dose of believeablilty.
