Contributing data

Contributing data to the site simply means telling the RDMP about the times you read your raingauge, and the depth of water that was collected since the previous reading. The times of readings do not have to be regular, and you can upload the results whenever it is convenient for you.

However, as the data is made available in a form that can be analyzed scientifically, it is important for quality control purposes that auxiliary information be provided for a site. Thus you are asked to provide at least an e-mail address where you can be contacted, and to give a description of the nature of your instruments, and of the the reading and maintenance regime.

The primary way to upload data is via the web interface, as described in the next section. It is also possible for programmers to provide access to data in more automated ways. These are discussed in the manual under the `programmer' personality.
